Photo Inspired

I always wished I’d love photography. It wasn’t a passion-until now. In June, I put together a year end slide show for the grade 7 class that I taught. While I’ve never used anything but a point and shoot (if that’s what the little cameras are called) I actually had some great photos. What frustrated me was the lost potential in so many of the photos. I’m pretty confident that an SLR camera will offer some support to a novice like me. Digital scrapbooks and slideshows have always been fun for me but real inspiration has come from this blog. And to top it off, my latest inspiration came from this video that I found through a sequence of links (Vancouver Island, Finding the True, Brene BrownHopeful Word Publishing)

Well Said...

Jim Carey's love letter to Emma Stone brought me to this video. I had no idea he was doing this type of personal growth. Amazing what you find out about people you never cared about when you start spending time on the web. Not sure if the time spent is enhancing or taking from my life but I know one thing, this time will be cut short soon (when I go back to work) so I should love it now and enjoy the ride!

Cupcakes, Catching Up and the Crazy Sexy Diet

According to plan, my vacation preparation experience has gone smoothly, very smoothly. In fact, things have been so smooth you could almost say they aren’t happening. That’s because they aren’t. I haven’t started packing, organizing, meal planning or cleaning (I feel clutter in my home, even when I’m away). So what have I been doing? Reading blogs, listening to music, making cupcakes and chatting with my kids, visiting family and generally thinking about my life. This actually seems like a lot to fit into a day, actually.

Catching up with Carrie Southern, my husband’s cousin, was on my list of things to do this summer. She was here visiting from California. Sadly, we missed each other. SO I’ve been keeping up with her blog, where she writes, in counsel, for women. Much of her work is connected to relationship endings (which doesn’t really tie in with my current life) but her many other areas of wisdom inspire me and her delivery is scrumptious.

I particularly enjoyed reading about her experience with the book, Crazy Sexy Diet. She talks about a blissful moment that she had and it reminds me of times when I too have experienced my own bliss. Oh bliss, I am working so you can return to me soon. I am adding another task to my list of unbegun tasks: buy Crazy Sexy Diet to read while on vacation.

Okay Mel, get your butt in gear. Time to pack. Enjoy the process!
